THE DAPPER HARLEM RAPPER
Dior have without a doubt put their best foot forward in making the eclectic fashioista and long time supporter Rocky one of four creatives featured in their latest. The others being director Larry Clarke, actor Rod Paradot and model Dylan Roques.
The rapper has always shown love for both the brand and their artistic director Kris Van Assche, namedropping the fashion label in his lyrics and attending Dior’s runway shows and events. With Rocky’s love for fashion (and having gleamed for DKNY and GQ in the past), his drive to strive made it only a matter of time before these two got together.
“(Rocky) embodies the empowered masculinity of today’s urban dandy”
The European luxury goods company laid it down in a recent interview with their creative director (Kris Van Assche) in which they state “I really like (A$AP Rocky’s) personal style and taste. He’s a real fashion lover. He feels like fashion really influences his own work, and he has strong opinions on that”.
Heads turned when A$AP and Dior came out in the same headline and for good reason too, the prestige surrounding the Mob and Dior are both undeniable in their own fields and now it’s come time to break down some barriers.
“I mean, it’s dope when you can mix it. It’s all about taking two worlds like streetwear and high-end and kind of mashing them together” – A$AP Rocky told WWD.
Next month, the ads will start showing up in magazines around the world including Australian issues of GQ – eyes peeled for that DIOR HOMME WINTER 2016-17.
